Barraca Tabuzios

See on Google Earth

Water:

Choppy waves, but excellent ramps build up at some points. Size up to 2m possible. Nice beachbreak as well. At weekends don't ride right in front of the barraca, due to many swimmers. Downwind it is empty.

Beach:

Soft sandy beach. Long and about 100m wide at low tide. High tide about 50m wide. Launch downwind of the barraca, here you wild lots of space and few people. The barraca gets packed on weekends, so stay away well downwind.

Weather:

Warm all year, no wetsuit needed. Strong sun, specially from October to February. Rainy season from February until May with occasional showers.

Wind:

Best winds from July to March, almost daily. Strongest winds in August and September with around 25 knots. Otherwise around 20 knots. From March to June you will find wind as well, but not daily, from 10-25 knots. Usually the wind is sideoffshore in the morning and turns sideonshore around noon. But this beach already works, if Cumbuco is still a bit sideoffshore.

How to get there:

From Fortaleza a 30 min drive towards the NW along the coast. Pass Icarai, and after the Icarai laggon about 1-2 km, then you will see a sign with "Ypioca" and "Barraca Tabuzios". Turn here and drive to the beach. You can park directly at the beach. Just 1km before Cumbuco.

Rules & Restrictions:

Please launch, land and kite downwind of the barraca to avoid problems.

Nightlife:

Great nightlife in Fortaleza.
